You put together an ear party by combining different earrings in several piercings. Start with the largest or boldest piece in your lowest piercing and let the earrings get smaller as you go up. Let one metal or one colour come back each time. That way your ear looks playful, yet calm.
In 2026 your ears no longer have to match either. A mix of shapes and stones is exactly the trend. Below you read step by step how to build an ear party that suits you.

What exactly is an ear party?
An ear party is a combination of several earrings in one ear that together form one whole.
More than one pair of earrings
With an ear party you wear a different piece in each piercing. Think of a hoop at the bottom, a small stud above it and perhaps a tiny stud in your third piercing. Each piece has its own role. Together they tell one story.
Why the ear party is so popular in 2026
Earrings are in the spotlight this season. The Dutch edition of Harper's Bazaar names mismatched earrings as one of the jewellery trends for autumn and winter 2026. So your left and right ear can differ. In our article about the earring trend 2026 you also see that hoops and loose gemstones set the tone.
How do you build an ear party?
With a fixed order from large to small, you easily build a beautiful ear party.
Step 1: choose your eye catcher
Start in your lowest piercing with the boldest piece. That is often a hoop, possibly with an earring gemstone on it. This earring draws attention and sets the mood for your whole ear.
Step 2: go smaller towards the top
For the second piercing, choose a smaller hoop or a stud. A very small stud fits in the third piercing. That way your ear party runs from large to small, like a staircase. It looks natural and well balanced to the eye.
Step 3: choose a common thread
Let one element come back. That can be the metal, a shape such as a square, or the sparkle of zirconia. With such a common thread, even a mix of five earrings looks like a deliberate choice.

Which earrings do you choose for an ear party?
The choice depends on how many piercings you have and how bold you want the look to be.
With two piercings
Wear a hoop at the bottom and a small stud above it. Want more colour? Then hang a loose gemstone on the hoop. A warm stone such as landscape jasper suits autumn beautifully. With two piercings you already have enough room for a playful look.
With three piercings or more
Then use three sizes: large, medium and small. A hoop at the bottom, a push back earring in the middle and a stud at the top. Push back earrings close with a separate back. Because of that they stay in place well and you put them in and take them out easily. Also have a look at the push back earrings for your middle piercing.
Mismatch between left and right
Wear a hoop with a stone on the left and just a simple hoop on the right. Or choose gold tones on the left and silver on the right. The contrast makes it playful. Do make sure both ears have something in common, such as the same hoop shape.
Gold, silver or a mix?
You can wear gold and silver in one ear party, as long as you do it deliberately.
Mixed metals with a plan
Choose one main colour for most of your earrings. Use the other colour as an accent. Two gold coloured earrings with one silver stud then look deliberately mixed.
Why the material matters
You wear earrings close to your skin, sometimes all day. All earrings in this blog have 925 sterling silver as their base, with a gold plated or rhodium plated finish. With gold plated, there is a layer of 14 carat gold on the silver. In our blog about the best material for earrings you read more about the differences.

How do you make your ear party personal?
With loose pieces you turn a standard ear party into something that is truly yours.
Switch with gemstones
The Mix & Match concept is all about freedom. You hang a different stone on your hoop and your whole ear party gets a new colour. Since 2024 you can even design your own ear jewellery with gemstones in the Mix & Match Studio.
Comfort comes first
You often wear an ear party for hours. So choose light studs for your upper piercings and keep the heaviest piece at the bottom. Our founder pays attention to three things in every design: quality, comfort and timeless design. You notice that in earrings that feel comfortable, even at the end of the day.
Let your hair play along
Do you wear your hair in a ponytail or behind your ear? Then your ear party shows at its best. With loose hair, you better choose one bold piece at the bottom. Explore all women's earrings to create your own combination.
