The magical Labradorite

The magical Labradorite, founded in Labrador, Canada by Moravian missionaries in 1770 who named it for the area. It became a popular gem in Europe in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. This stone is a member of the Feldspar family (which includes stones like Orthoclase, Albite and Anorthite) and is treasured for its remarkable play of colour, known as Labradorescence. The stone, usually gray-green or dark gray, is composed in aggregate layers that refract light as iridescent flashes of peacock blue, pale green or gold. According to an Eskimo Legend, the Nothern lights are captured in the minerals on the coast of Labrador.

It is a stone with many meanings. The iridescent sheen of Labradorite is said to awaken the inner spirit and heighten awareness of one's surroundings. It's a protector against pessimism and helps us to push negative feelings aside.
